I remember when a home on Oltorf and Lamar was cheap because it was TOO close to downtown and a 3 bedroom sold for $40,000 & rented for $300 a month.
I hung out with Stevie Ray and the Reverend Horton Heat on 6th street.
My roommate and I started to spray paint Keep Austin Weird on sidewalks around the UT campus in 1985 as a protest to the active Fraternity hatred against blacks & LBGT at UT at the time. Not as a statement for anything else like it turned into!
I remember when Whole Foods profit came from selling to Coops on campus and the main store was the size of a 7-11.
And it never took more than 60 seconds to wait for the light at Barton Springs and Lamar.
The original Chuy's had their weekly free buffet with any $1.00 beer.
Nowhere in Austin was more than 30 minutes by car, and we still had trolley tracks downtown.
My point is the Austin area and the market for homes has changed over the last 35 years and I have been her to help in Real Estate for the last 23 years.
